What is a Heat only or conventional boiler?
A Heat only boiler, is basically the actual boiler unit. Unlike the system boiler the heat only boiler does not incorporate a pump, expansion vessel or safety valve.
Theses components would have to be added to the installation for the boiler to work and produce heat, the heat only boiler is suited to a sealed Sealed type of heating system and an open vented type of system( small header tank in the attic with an open vent pipe).
A main disadvantage to this type of boiler would be from a warranty perspective, Should a pump fail or safety valve etc, this would not be covered under the standard manufacturing warranty as only internal parts to the boiler would be.
Heat only boilers tend to be more compact than system boilers and combi boilers due to less working parts inside, therefore are well suited to older systems where the pump is remote from the boiler and the boiler maybe situated in a small kitchen press or cupboard
